The  Paste Planets

Pastel Planets at the MetroPoppyfield

Welcome to the Pastel Planets
Our man goes to look out of his spaceship portholes, which remind him of the
e-x-p-a-n-d-i-n-g
Pastel Universe...
On board the spaceship.
On board the spaceship.

Our man is of course "Monitor", who has appeared in many Mauretania Comics stories. This image was drawn in colour in pastel and soft pencil, smoothed with brush and water, scanned, reduced to monochrome and edited in Photoshop.
Reason for the Expanding Pastel Universe.
Imagine there are just two planets, stationary in space. Then imagine that the left-hand planet begins to revolve.
What does this mean?
It means - because there is nothing else in space - that the right hand planet is actally orbiting around the left hand one - and so it spins off into space and away!
Two planets.
Two pastel planets.

Pastels on paper, the background smoothed with a brush and water, then scanned, cropped, blurred, and the background darkened in Photoshop.
But there is a Pastel Universe of planets.
This image represents the Edge of the Expanding Pastel Universe where time stops. Time stops (as seen from Pastel Earth) because at the Edge, the universe's expansion has reached the speed of light. So those distant planets have reached infinite mass and out there time has stopped. Nothing any further away than this will ever be visible from the Earth no matter what size or resolution or complexity of telescopes are ever constructed.
Edge of the Pastel Universe.
Edge of the Pastel Universe.

Again, pastels on paper, this time untouched by the wet brush, but scanned and then filtered in Photoshop.
Coming soon - To see further into space than the visible edge of the universe - the Verifiable Conjecture Machine (V.C.M.)
